Cailletier Olive Tree

Cailletier-olive-tree-close-up.jpg

Cailletier:  Cailletier or Niçoise are the classic little, black table olives used for Nicoise salad. A native of the Alps-Maritime region of France, the table fruit is named after the curing style of the Nice region on the Cote d’Azur.

Plant Information:

  • Oil tastes of fresh almond and hazelnut

  • Good resistance to cold

  • Sensitive to olive fly, olive scale and olive knot

Cailletier olive trees are self-fertile, but produce better yields when cross pollinated with other varietals.

Fruit production usually starts between 2-4 years. At maturity they can grow between 25-30 feet in height with slightly weeping branches and broad green leaves. Great for anyone wanting a delicate tasting oil and a delicious black table olive.
